Latin Academy of Recording: Overflow of creativity

Manuel Abud VISITA PRODU

Manuel Abud, COO of the Academia Latina de la Grabación (Latin Grammy), is particularly concerned about the effect this pandemic will have on musicians´ context: bands, lighting technicians, and promoters.

Abud, who was a guest at #VisitaPRODU on Tuesday 14, indicated that they are evaluating different ways to help “those who cannot stay at home and asking those who stay at home to collaborate. There has been an overflow of concerts and musical activities from home that we are promoting and amplifying on our social networks. We talk with the artists and have many projects in development that I cannot yet reveal. There has been an overflow of spectacular creativity,” he comments.

The executive, who has a 25-year career path in the entertainment industry (having been on Sky, TV Azteca, Telemundo, Azteca America and now Latin Grammy) after his beginnings in the financial world, feels this COVID-19 crisis “is going to change the way we develop socially. We are going to be much more aware of our spaces.”

The Academia, that last year received 15 thousand products to classify, this year has already started the reception process online. “More than the day of the awards ceremony, we have a week of events that gathers who is who in the industry in Las Vegas. We are analyzing what is going to happen. May and June will be decisive to see what is going to happen.”

He recommends that at a personal level “it is necessary to remain realistic and positive, keep yourself busy with what you can and be prepared,” he ended.
