La reina del sur, telenovela from Telemundo Internacional, premiered Monday 14th at 10 pm on Antena 3 of Spain.Starring Kate del Castillo, La reina del sur is a U.S. television phenomenon. It became the most watch premiere in Telemundo’s history with 2.4 million viewers. According to Nielsen data, during its first week it captured an audience of over 8.1 million viewers 2+ and close to 5 million adults 18-49.It exceeded all expectations, topping audience averages, both in English and Spanish, coast to coast in the U.S., and placing Telemundo as leader in Los Angeles, New York, Miami and Houston.The telenovela was shot in different locations in Mexico, Colombia, Morocco and Spain. Based on the best-seller by Arturo Pérez-Reverte, it tells the story of a young and humble woman who, by a twist of fate, becomes a powerful drug trafficker.
