Juan Camilo Ferrand
After the recent success of Pablo Escobar: El Patrón del Mal, Juan Camilo Ferrand took on the challenge of scripting the new Telemundo telenovela Pasión Prohibida. This novela is an adaptation of a successful Turkish story. When Telemundo asked me to write it, they acknowledged this kind of theme was no my forte but were convinced I could do it. As it turns out, it was perfect because I was searching for themes to help me break away from writing drug trafficking stories, said Ferrand. When asked about expectations for the new production, the Colombian writer added: I wish that people who did not see Pablo because they honestly couldnt stand so much evil, called me to say they did see Pasión prohibida because they identified with the story. This novela seems very traditional but it offers many different things. It may sound like a cliché, but the villains are not that evil, and the heroes have certain traits that at times make them evil.Viewers demand big productions that feel real, that make us nervous, where you have to breath to diffuse the tension; but they also want love stories born out of fiction. There needs to be a balance because there is an audience for both genres, added Ferrand.
