Jeff Zucker, NBC Universal CEO

NBC Universal CEO Jeff Zucker will be leaving the company when it is acquired by Comcast. In a memo sent to NBCU staffers, Zucker said, “It is clear to me that this is the right decision for me and for the company. Comcast will be a great new steward, just as GE has been, and they deserve the chance to implement their own vision.”Don Browne, President of Telemundo, and one of the people who pushed to bring Zucker aboard NBC, in a statement to PRODU commented on the executive’s departure: “Jeff has been a great leader. I have known him since he joined the company. He has been very supportive since NBC bought Telemundo, and has been one of the main drivers in the efforts towards original productions at Telemundo. Everyone at Telemundo will miss him.”With regards to changes within Telemundo, Browne said that for the time being everything will remain the same, both in terms of leadership and content.“I believe that Comcast is committed to Spanish-language television; they see the growth Hispanic content is experiencing. Also, they have publicly stated that one of their highest priorities is the Hispanic market. We have built a great business of content and I believe content will have the highest importance in the future of media, and they know this too,” added Browne.
