Juan Pablo Santos Imagina US
Imagina US began last week in Spain the shooting of the original series El Fútbol No Es Así, that reveals the dark side of this sport and which is carried out in co-production with DIRECTV Latin America.
“It is a fiction story that has eight episodes in its first season and delves into the dark side of soccer, based on a book by the president of the Spanish Soccer League,” pointed out Juan Pablo Santos, senior VP of New Businesses and Content at Imagina US.
The series is directed by Daniel Calparsoro and written by Eduardo Sacheri, from El Secreto De Sus Ojos. It is shot almost entirely in Madrid and has some locations in Argentina. The launch in the region will be on DIRECTV and they are looking for clients to distribute in the rest of the world. The first episode will be aired on July 15, the day after the end of the 2018 Russia World Cup.
Together with Televideo Colombia –the company bought by Mediapro and from where Yo Soy Franky and Chica Vampiro came— they are developing the series Newbies (Novatos) for Nickelodeon LatAm. The production revolves around the so-called e-sports, or electronic sports.
Santos also mentioned the construction of two studios in New York, with their partners, HITN, with whom they are developing a line of productions for children, including Sonia y Los Trababubus, a live action with puppets for preschoolers.
