The Idol franchise has once again proven its successas it has in each market across the globe where it has a showthis time in Puerto Rico. The second Idol Puerto Rico program to air overtook the competition in every demographic, reaching up to 49% of the audience share, according to Nielsen Media Research. The show airs exclusively on WAPA Television, Puerto Ricos leading broadcast station.Among Households, Idol Puerto Rico obtained a 38.8% audience share (22.8 rating), compared to 16.3% (9.6) by Telemundo and 19.4% (11.4) by Univision during the same time period. The program was a favorite among Women 18-49 as well, where it attracted a 38.5% (15.1) share, against 16.2% (6.4) and 21.8% (8.6) by Telemundo and Univision, respectively.Men 18-49 also showed their support for the program with a 37.6% (11.0) share, while Telemundo had 13.6% (4.0) and Univision had 10.5% (3.1). Finally, the show triumphed among Persons 18-49 with a 38.1% (13.1) share, while Telemundo had 15.1% (5.2) and Univision had 17.2% (5.9).Though we knew it wasnt going to be easy, when this adventure began our goal wasnt just to achieve high ratings, but to put Puerto Rico back on the world map for its local production success.
