Idol Puerto Rico on WAPA TV gets off to a great start

Idol Puerto Rico, the newest version of the Idol Franchise, debuted on Sunday evening, scoring the highest audience share across all key demographics according to Nielsen Media Research. The show airs exclusively on WAPA Television, Puerto Rico’s leading broadcast station.Among Women 18-49, Idol Puerto Rico obtained a 32.2% audience share, compared to 8.5% by Telemundo and 26.5% by Univision during the same time period. The show fared just as well among Men 18-49; Idol Puerto Rico attracted a 28.4% audience share, while Telemundo had 16.8% and Univision had just 7.1 percent. In the key Adult 18-49 demographic, Idol Puerto Rico maintained first place with a 30.5% audience share, compared to Telemundo’s 12.1% and Univision’s 18.3% (see table on following page).The series opened with a special program recapping the auditions in San Juan. The judges of the show are Ricardo Montaner, Jerry Rivera, Ericka Ender and Tony Mamery.
