Why elections are always held on Tuesdays?, What is the origin of the term “OK”?, How are interstate highways numbered? By tunning into What the Fact, HITN-TV’s new history and civics short form series, viewers will learn this and much more.

Presenting interesting and curious facts about the United States and its culture through a series of entertaining and informational capsules, What the Fact will help the Hispanic community by sparking conversations and piquing curiosity about these little-known, but fun facts.

According to Erika Vogt-Lowell, director of Programming and Acquisitions for HITN, “What the Fact is a resource to help Hispanic families gain a deeper understanding of United States’ historic and civic traditions. Gallup research shows that 71 percent of Hispanics in America identify as immigrants or first-generation Americans. Through What the Fact, we have the opportunity to provide our community with useful, engaging history and civics information that will give them greater insight and understanding about the country in which they live.”

What the Fact’s information capsules are hosted by Fernando Espuelas. A leading Hispanic journalist, Espuelas has produced and hosted national TV and radio programs for Univision and Hearst, written op-eds for Fox News and CNN, and contributed to leading channels like MSNBC, NPR and FRANCE 24.

“Throughout my career, I’ve been dedicated to ensuring the Hispanic community has access to information to understand and connect with the world around them,” Espuelas said. “What the Fact makes important information available to Hispanic families as they seek to understand the United States and its traditions. I’m excited to be part of this project, to create awareness of U.S. history and spark conversations about how that history affects us today.”
