During NATPE 2016, Eric Turpin, general manager of the US Hispanic HITN signal, will be looking for contents on health and well-being, musical and sports culture, a category that until now had no representation in the channel. “We want to offer more cultural content related with music, as well as content that highlights other countries in Latin America: Colombia, Cuba, Argentina, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and even Spain, which we think will be extremely relevant for our audience”, Turpin told PRODU.Starting January, the channel began a complete renovation of its programming, adding some 400 hours of content, mainly from BBC and Discovery. “The goal is to maintain our mantra of educating and entertaining our customer base, but at the same time expanding the offer with additional topics that will be relevant for them”, he explains. When consulted about OTT, Turpin said that this year the channel will offer its own application for TV everywhere. “First, we will make the application available to all our distributors, and then we will offer it independently, as we continue developing the strategy. But we will be in that space. Our contents are very relevant for that space and open us up to a totally different audience”, he stated.
