The pay TV channel portfolio of Hemisphere Media Group in Latin America, specifically the channels Pasiones and Cinelatino, have been performing very well, Alan Sokol, president and CEO of Hemisphere Media Group, Inc., told PRODU.Pasiones has increased its distribution in new platforms and in those of existing clients. It was launched in Claro Perus DTH platform and in Chile. Aside from Peru, Pasiones managed to increase its penetration in Telefonica, which strengthens its value in that country, he said. Regarding programming, investments have been made in better contents for both channels and even in their own productions for Cinelatino. Cinelatino will produce and co-produce 12 to 15 original productions this year, he mentioned. He stated that they continue to grow the distribution of their channels, both organically as well as through our new launchings. In contrast with channels in English, we continue seeing fixed growth of organic subscribers in the unattended universe of Hispanics in the US. In the Hispanic world in cable, we are a major player with a profile of five leading channels in the cable market that can only be compared with Univision in the US, expressed Sokol. When consulted on plans in OTT and SVOD, he stated that pay TV in Latin America has a lot of space to grow.We are on top of the trends in OTT and SVOD. I anticipate that throughout the next few months you will see lots of announcements and strategies about this topic that we will disclose regarding our content and distribution via these new platforms, he commented.
