Alan Sokol, CEO and president of Hemisphere Media Group
Hemisphere´s Cinelatino is finishing the production of its first television series, El Desconocido. It is inspired in the life of the right hand of one of the most dangerous drug dealers in the world, as announced by Alan Sokol, president and CEO of the company.
On the other hand, Pasiones is expected to sign agreements with some of the main novela distributors in Mexico, Argentina, Korea and Turkey. They plan to continue offering a wide range of programming, including blockbuster novelas from Turkey, to capitalize the success of this genre and attract a multicultural audience.
“Regarding the distribution of Pasiones and Cinelatino, we have broadened our distribution in Central America with Millicom (Tigo) and Claro and expect more growth, since distributors continue acquiring new subscribers. Our focus is to expand distribution in the region, especially in Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Paraguay and Bolivia. We will continue betting on our partner MVPD ´s emerging platforms and strategies in all the ways we possibly can,” he mentioned.
He added that recently they have been given an open TV license in Colombia by Canal Uno, one of the only three national stations in the country.
“The new programming and branding campaign for the channel will be launched in the next few months. Canal Uno already has already planned several exciting and innovative original productions and has closed diverse content acquisition agreements with the main programming providers. The channel is well positioned to be competitive very soon and we think there are huge opportunities in Colombia,” he added.
