To some, Pablo Escobar was a ruthless criminal, to others, a generous community member. To Sebastián Marroquín, he was one thing above all others – a father. Debuting Monday, October 4th (9pm) on HBO, during Hispanic Heritage Month, the revealing documentary Sins of my father tells the fascinating story of the notorious drug kingpin’s life, death, and legacy of suffering as seen through the eyes of his only son, while illuminating Columbia’s violent recent history from a new perspective.HBO & HBO Latino playdates: October 9 (4:15pm), 14 (12am, 5:05am), 19 (3:45pm), and 31 (11:45am). HBO2 playdates: October 13 (8pm) and 17 (8am).Directed and produced by Argentina and New York-based filmmaker Nicolás Entel (Red Creek), Sins of my father features deeply personal interviews with Sebastián Marroquín (formerly Juan Pablo Escobar) and his mother María Victoria, and never-before-revealed home movies, photographs, and audio recordings from the Escobar archive, painting a startling and intimate portrait of their family life.Sins of my father is Entel’s second documentary film after his multiple award-winning 2006 Orquesta típica. Red Creek Productions – the commercial production entity that he established with his brother and partner Ivan Entel – has offices in New York, Buenos Aires, and San José de Costa Rica.The documentary was directed by Nicolás Entel and produced by both Nicolás and Ivan Entel through Red Creek Productions; co-producer, Arie Kowler; narrator, Jorge Enrique Abello.
