In his new role, Whitbeck will be focused on developing and producing projects for Zodiak that draw on his journalism background
Zodiak Latino announced that Harris Whitbeck is transitioning from an executive role to a producer role within the company. Whitbeck joined Zodiak Latino, previously RM 5 to Elemento, in 2009. Throughout his years with the company, Zodiak Latino produced several series including Mexico’s Next Top Model (SET), Desafío Fashionista (Discovery Mujer) and Canta Si Puedes (América Televisión and Ecuavisa). In his new role, Whitbeck will be focused on developing and producing projects for Zodiak that draw on his journalism background, including new and exciting current affairs projects like NarcoTech (Univision) as well as original docuseries, formats and scripted programming. Prior to joining Zodiak, Whitbeck served as a CNN International Correspondent based in Mexico City, covering key events in Latin America and around the world for CNN Worldwide, including CNN International, CNN en Espanol, and CNN/US. Juan Maldonado will remain as Chief Creative Officer and responsible for creative on Latino productions working with Carlos Márquez-Sterling, vice president of Development, on productions for Sony, Discovery and Televisa. Maldonado will report directly to Jonny Slow, Chief Executive Officer of Zodiak Americas. “I am delighted to enter into this exciting new phase at Zodiak, which will allow me to continue to tap my journalism and writing background to contribute new quality content to the Zodiak roster of programming offerings, said Whitbeck.
