BBC Worldwide Channels has named Gareth Williams as VP of Programming for Latin America and U.S. Hispanic. Williams will take on his new position at the end of July, reporting directly to Angel Peche, the departments acting general manager. Gareth brings with him a deep knowledge of the Latin American TV market and audiences Peche said. His fluency in Spanish and Portuguese, added to his ample understanding of the regions different idiosyncrasies, gives us assurance that he has the pulse of our viewers, and will, with his programming background and breadth of production experience, prove invaluable to our continued growth in the region.Williams will be responsible for supervising all work within the area of programming, including new strategies of programming, scheduling and production for the companys portfolio of channels within the region: BBC HD, BBC Entertainment and the channel for preschoolers CBeebies. Before taking on this role, Williams worked for BBC Worldwide and UKTV during the last 11 years. Some of the productions he has most recently worked on include Dancing with the Stars in Panama, The Greats y What not to Wear in Brazil and Make my Body Younger in Chile.
