Fox Deportes telecast of the 2011 UEFA Champions League Final between FC Barcelona and Manchester United on Saturday May 28th is the highest-rated Champions League Final ever on Spanish-language television and generated the biggest audience for any event in the history of Spanish-language sports cable networks, according to Nielsen Media Research.The 2011 match attracted 1.5 million Spanish language viewers, a record for any Spanish-language sports cable network in the U.S., up +206 percent compared to the 2010 Champions League Final, more than tripling the number of viewers (490,000) from a year ago. The prior Spanish-language sports cable network audience record was set in 2009 for a Chivas-U.S.A. Interliga match (1.18 million), also on Fox Deportes. The game posted a 13.0 coverage area Household rating, the third highest ever on the network, and the highest since 2005. The 13.0 rating is up an incredible +152 percent versus last years match (5.15), which was also televised domestically in Spanish by Fox Deportes.
