Flama: We continue with solid growth

Maribel Ramos-Weiner| 26 de mayo de 2016

Flama was launched two years ago and since its creation, “the platform has experienced constant growth in audience and in interaction. It just arrived to a million fans in Facebook,” Steven Benanav, VP, Content Partnerships & General Manager of theflama.com, Univision Communications. “As well as growth in fans, we have seen a great increase in visits and video consumption, as a result of our presence in diverse platforms: YouTube and Snapchat,” he explains.Flama’s current projects include the documentary series Becoming a Luchador, with Eric “SUPEReeeGO” Ochoa, one of YouTube’s talents, that is part of Univision Creator Network. The series will be ready for the end of May and will be shot East of Los Angeles. Another project is the comedy Ask Flama.Benavav highlighted some of Flama’s talents, such as Joanna Hausmann, Gabe and Josh Leyva. He mentioned that talents will start spending more time doing Facebook live. “Facebook has become a great platform for videos,” he added.Regarding the future of the digital space, Benavav commented that, “It has to do with really attracting this audience to the platform and on the devices it spends the most time. It is an audience focused on mobile when it comes to videos or when they interact with content. They do this through social platforms -YouTube, Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram- and we need to be in all those places and make the content work for all those social networks, because each experience is different and you need to create content that works organically on those sites.”He stated that in terms of content, they have a mix between original and curated content. “We tend to focus on making original content, either video or editorial, but at the same time if we find content that we think is cool or funny, we can integrate it, but the main focus is original.”
