Lino García, general manager of ESPN Deportes
ESPN Deportes recently started to sell its Hispanic market advertising space along with its Anglo signal ESPN2.We are selling in tandem with ESPN2 the total Hispanic market, not just ESPN Deportes viewers but also Hispanics who watch other channels. We are going to the market with complete packages that offer all Hispanics to our clients, said to PRODU, Lino García, general manager of ESPN Deportes.ESPN Deportes reaches its 8th anniversary in 2012 and the balance has been positive. The balance has been great. In the beginning there were many challenges with distribution, but in the past three years we have been successful at it. Weve also had success being creative and bringing more products to our platforms, not just to TV but also radio, online and mobile. Were the only ones with five platforms, including the magazine, said García. He also indicated that the channel now has its own team in Los Angeles for the creation of original productions in Spanish. In some cases we are working with clients in advance and, according to their participation, weve entered in certain projects while other times weve done it speculatively: we do it before hand and find out later if we can find advertisers, added García.He said they expect to have the TV Everywhere platform running by the end of 2011. The company has the platform already available for the general market under the name Watch ESPN.
