Sunday the 13th saw the last episode of the first season of La Casa de los Famosos México on Las Estrellas, breaking audience and viewing records on open and digital TV; the winner was Wendy Guevara, the first trans girl to be part of and win a reality show in that country. The producers Julia Tradd, Executive Director of Physical Production of EndemolShine Boomdog, and Rosa María Noguerón, producer at TelevisaUnivision, spoke about the relevance of this format and the challenges they face in a second installment.

The last episode was watched by 21 million people on open TV (Las Estrellas), and in ViX, the audience viewed five million hours. The final saw 40 million digital votes.

“We feel lucky to be a part of something historic. We are used to the format, but this one made history. What won was the love for the project, for Mexico, and for diversity. We love being part of our clients and how they want to represent a format we share with them. We are here to accompany them and make them shine,” commented Tradd.

Noguerón highlighted the 21 million people who watched the final on open TV and said it was a sample of its reach in Mexico and, probably in other countries, setting the bar high for a second installment. “The first season we made from scratch, and we are sure that this success demonstrated that we did the job and with great scope. We do not want to make a copy for the second season, but now we have enough tools for it.”

Regarding this second season, which still does not have a production or premiere date, Tradd added: “The pre-production of the new one relies on our client TelevisaUnivision we only contribute and accompany them; the work begins three months before the date they decide to broadcast it, especially the creative part where we present renderings of how they want it to look, color palettes and all the construction of how we are going to frame the house.” She explained that the first season encompasses more than 11,928 hours of content on open TV and ViX.

A CONTENT THAT BROKE WITH STEREOTYPES
Finalists Nicola Porcella, Poncho Denigris, Sergio Mayer, and Emilio Osorio, as the winner Wendy Guevara, expressed their opinion on the importance of opening this content towards diversity.

“I am grateful to TelevisaUnivision for making visible the LGBTTTI+ community and for letting them know that we are all love and not different. As a trans girl that won La Casa de los Famosos Mexico, it makes me proud to know that people fell in love with each of us for our personalities, but we have in common that we know how to love and respect. Thanks to those who supported me and for making the trans and gay community bigger and more visible,” said Guevara.

MORE NUMBERS
According to data from TelevisaUnivision, La Casa de los Famosos Mexico is the reality show with the best digital performance in the entire history of the company, being a trend on social networks every day for ten weeks of transmission. The digital conversation around the grand finale reached 80 million people and achieved more than 30 national trending topics on X (former Twitter) and five search trends on Google.

“The reality show generated multiplatform engagement like never before in Mexico thanks to the popularity of the EndemolShine Boomdog format, the talent of the hosts, and the 14 celebrities who participated,” said Jaime Aguilar, General Director of Programming and Acquisitions at TelevisaUnivision.
