Endemol Shine International non-scripted formats have not only proven to be capable of traveling but also of renovating themselves in territories they have already conquered. Michelle Wasserman, SVP Format Licences and Content Development, sees “a clear trend of returning formats for 2020”, that has the opportunity to fit in the juncture the region is experiencing.

“We must have an eye to see not only what worked but also if it was an adequate moment for a specific format in a certain region. Maybe that idea that hadn`t been so attractive is today the most appropriate. Returning formats have always been a great option to minimize risks and increase the efficiency in production, and this year many Latin American countries are heading towards that trend, aiming to maintain production standards at the same time that they are experiencing complex social-economic situations” pointed out the executive.

Proof of this is Minuto Para Ganar, the most-watched format in Argentina the summer of 2019, which returned to Telefe after 5 años of coming out into the air; Yo Me Llamo, that has been aired five seasons in the children`s version and 26 in the adult version in Peru, along with being on the air in more than 10 countries at the same time; and Trato Hecho, that has won the audience of Uruguay and will return to Telefe this year, after thirteen years. “They are formats that are repeated and spread to new countries”.
