Leonardo Aranguibel, Production director at Disney Media Distribution Latin America
Monday February 13, Disney Media Distribution Latin America will start shooting its second original production, the series El César (26X60′) –on the life of boxer Julio César— together with BTF Media.
“El César is a step forward in making original productions. We had never produced a 26-episode format before. Hasta Que Te Conocí had 13 episodes, plus some special documentaries,” said Leonardo Aranguibel, Production Director at Disney Media Distribution Latin America.
Aranguibel added that the series is a beloved production. “He is the son of Fernando Barbosa, who is an expert in boxing”.
Francisco “Paco” Cordero, CEO of BTF Media, explained that El César follows the same model as the first production they did together: Hasta Que Te Conocí. “Basically, 99% are locations, a similar type of production. There are going to be two directing blocks and two production units. In addition, it will have the same photographer, producer Mariano Carranco. The same team we formed before”.
Aranguibel and Cordero expressed that the relation between two companies is like a marriage, everyone hopes it lasts forever. They currently have more than three projects on the way. “We are also very happy with the partners we have, that are mainly TV Azteca, Telemundo and Turner,” said Cordero.
Currently, El César is being shot in Mexico City; they will later go to Culiacán. The challenge is to shoot six days a week to produce two episodes, as they did in Hasta Que Te Conocí, the biggest reference of this new production.
