The live action Star Wars series with 10 episodes and a cost of around US$100 million will be part of Disney’s new OTT, with which they begin to define the content profile of their digital platform, revealed The New York Times.

The statement also announces that according to two agents and two producers who work with Disney, and asked to speak anonymously, at least nine films are in production or in advanced development stage, with budgets that range between US$20 and US$60 million.

Disney is doing the remake of Lady and the Tramp (1955) and La Espada En La Piedra (1963). Other films that will be in the service include Togo, a period adventure about a sleigh dog, and Noelle, starring Anna Kendrick as Santa Claus’ daughter.

The list of series includes spin-offs from franchises such as High School Musical and Monsters Inc. And there could be a series of The Muppets. In each one of these productions they will invest between US$25 and US$35 million.

The service will also support at least 5 thousand episodes of old TV programs. Additionally, it will probably include programming from National Geographic, that is part of the Fox acquisition.
