Discovery en Español premieres Canelo, La Historia de un Campeón

Best known as “Canelo” – the Spanish word for cinnamon, a common nickname for people with red hair – Saúl Álvarez is revered for winning multiple world boxing championships, in four separate weight classes: super welterweight, medium, super middleweight, and light heavyweight. His success is impressive – but fans may not know about the modest beginnings and incredible grit that shaped Canelo into the man and the competitor that he is today.

Premiering on Discovery en Español on Sunday, December 19 at 9pm E/P, Canelo, La Historia de un Campeón, brings audiences inside of Canelo’s home in San Diego to hear from him about a time when becoming a boxer was but a dream.

The hour-long special will be released simultaneously on streaming via the Discovery en Español GO app.

Canelo, La Historia De Un Campeón is a Litopos Producciones production. Michela Giorelli and Rafael Rodríguez are executive producers for Discovery. The special will also premiere on Discovery Channel in Mexico on Monday, December 13 at 11pm.
