Among the most recent solutions that Comcast has created thinking about their US Hispanic users, are the interphase in Spanish for X1; the voice control in Spanish, Internet Plus Latino; and the extension of the program Internet Essentials, which, even though it isn’t exclusively for Hispanics, does benefit many Hispanic homes that qualify for this program.Comcast is always looking for new ways to cater to Hispanic clients. The X1 platform is one of the most important and innovative for the US market. We wanted to create a functionality so that the platform was truly relevant for Hispanics, for the experience to be bicultural. We based it on three premises: soccer, family, and alternatives, explained to PRODU, Javier García, VP and general manager of Multicultural Services at Comcast Cable. He explained that the topic of soccer is essential for Hispanics. That´s why this year sports channels were launched in HD. We also created a soccer portal in what was traditionally a cable TV box, he mentioned. As for the remote control activated through voice commands in Spanish, he said that it revolutionizes the way in which the US Hispanic market watches TV. Regarding the product Internet Plus Latino, García explained that the conversation on cable TV is changing. Users now ask first for Internet access and then the cable solution, the opposite of what happened 10 years ago. Internet Plus Latino is a product that already existed in the market at the end of last year and we wanted to offer latino subscribers the opportunity. It is the basic package, Latin channels and a very robust Internet product, he explained. As for OTT, he said they are aware that there is an opportunity in that market and they are evaluating it.He indicated that the company is studying the possibility of launching Watchables (short format contents) for US Hispanic, but they are still studying the best way to do it. Our commitment is not only in the area of video, but also in all Comcasts video area: in the area of communications with illimited packages for calls to Mexico and Puerto Rico that are the countries that have more demand, Internet plus. We also have a fundamental commitment to provide Internet to low income homes, and until now Comcast has benefitted more than half million families in the US with with Internet Essentials, he sentenced.
