BuenaVisión TV, the new open TV network, whose first station is Channel Three in New York City, is to be offered by Verizon FiOS, Time Warner and Cablevision for that area. Carlos Barba, president and CEO of BuenaVisión TV spoke to PRODU about this new venture: Ive been in the television industry in the U.S. for 50 years. I think theres a lot to do, and it occurred to me to create something I call the new TV, the new communication, which is based on a channel that has a close appeal to the Hispanic community in New York. He indicated, along with his partners Roberto and Luis Isaías from Ecuador, that they are buying a station in Tampa, Florida and in Puerto Rico they have an affiliation with Channel 13. He also said that they have already closed a distribution deal on cable with OneLink. The idea is to extend the network all through the East Coast of the U.S. Barba explains that its a multiplatform project, and that aside from TV, they already have radio properties in Puerto Rico, Honduras, the Dominican Republic, Peru and soon in Mexico. Many people are interested in that platform and were going to continue it with other regions he said. He also mentioned that the company has made a deal with the newspaper El Vocero in Puerto Rico in which the media company will provide two half-hours of news, and the people in New York will be able to read the newspaper.
