Alejandro Bernal, International Director of Caracol Internacional
(Maribel Ramos-Weiner). Caracol Internacional is significantly increasing its distribution through Comcasts Xfinity. We are very pleased with the launch on Xfinity from Comcast. South Florida has been an enormous success. We expect to start the next stage in northern Miami-Dade County. The Atlanta launch is doing well: it has yielded important numbers in a short time, said to PRODU Alejandro Bernal, International Director of the channel.Caracol Internacional supplies 40 hours of VOD per month through Comcast, and Bernal says the content requested is interesting. Among the most popular shows requested are Sábados felices, the most traditional program in Colombian TV, with over 40 years on the air, and Colombia más cerca, a current events space hosted by Pilar Smith and Paulo Laserna that is produced by Caracol exclusively for its international signal. To commemorate Colombias independence in July, the channel has several grassroots events prepared with Comcast in four cities simultaneously, among them Miami and Atlanta. Anaheim, California will also host a Colombian independence festival with DirecTV. We balance all markets in order to have a solid presence with all cable operators, said Bernal.Other events will take place in Houston, Dallas and Boston. Caracol Internacional already has two million subscribers in the U.S. between DirecTV (with which it has an exclusivity agreement), and various cable operators. The channel does not yet have presence on telecomm companies.
