Canal 22 Internacional premieres Ópera Prima @el colectivo

Following the success of Ópera Prima Las Voces del Bicentenario (2010), and Ópera Prima en Movimiento (2011), Canal 22 Internacional, Mexico’s arts and entertainment channel, will premiere the third season of the popular cultural reality show Ópera Prima, which will focus on contemporary dance. The first episode of Ópera Prima @el colectivo premieres on Sunday, April 15 at 10pm ET/7pm PT and will have an encore performance on Tuesday, April 17 at 11pm ET/8pm PT. Ópera Prima @el colectivo opens the door of opportunity to 20 dancers –10 men and 10 women– between the ages of 19 and 34. Each of the 20 participants will be challenged to prepare and perform daily, executing various dance exercises while also taking classes, training, and practicing the contemporary choreographies taught by professional dancers. Over the course of the eight week series, the 20 participants will be narrowed down to eight finalists who will perform live at a special gala at Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City. By the end of that performance, only four winners will be selected. Ópera Prima @el colectivo is a production of former Canal 22 director Enrique Strauss and Claudia D’Agostino and will be hosted by Mexican singer, composer and actress Sasha Sokol.
