Campanario Entertainment, producer and developer of Camelia La Texana (co-produced by Argos Televisión and distributed by Telemundo Internacional), has approximately five thousand hours of written material in different genres for the U.S. Hispanic market.PRODU spoke with Vice-president Diana Mejía-Jones, who said the company is halfway through the production of Camelia La Texana.We have genres that range from childrens content, classic novelas, musical teen novelas, action series, to narconovelas. Right now the main focus is Camelia La Texana, making sure we continue to captivate the audience and improve any aspects as needed. The series started out quite well and were thrilled with the results, said Mejía-Jones.Camelia La Texana is the first Campanario production sold in the U.S. Hispanic market. Weve worked on other projects for film, documentaries, for HBO in English, but this is our first series for Spanish-language TV in the U.S. Our goal is to improve the production quality of TV in Spanish. It has been a tough challenge because its something new, but were happy with what were seeing, she added.Mejía-Jones said publisher Random House is about to launch the book based on Contrabando Y Traición, the corrido by Los Tigres del Norte that inspired Camelia La Texana.Were gearing up to develop other projects associated with Camelia or that have a similar flavor, added Mejía-Jones.She also mentioned the company started buying formats from Korea to be adapted for the Hispanic market.
