The OTT platform BossTV, by Planet Earth TV, LLC. (Shelby, North Carolina), which is already available in the US, will be entering Latin America in November with clients such as Discovery, ViacomCBS, and Disney.

“In the US we are ready. We made a launch in cold, beyond a Beta Test and it has proven that in each one of the nodes we can support an average of 4.2 million subscribers, that on a simulation. We have proven that all the parts related to the pay system, Apple and Android app stores are working and video delivery as well,” explains Diego Cardona, CTO of Planet Earth TV.

Cardona explained that for Latin America they have a different business model than the US that is a subscription one.

In order to serve Latin America with a competitive service both in prices and technology, Planet Earth TV installed two supernodes four years ago: one in downtown Miami and another in Los Angeles. He mentioned that for three and a half years they tested the functionality of the connectivity infrastructure of Claro Enterprise Solutions, owners of companies like Claro and Telcel, that handles some 285 million mobile telephone users in Latin America.

BossTV, by not using CDN but going directly to the consumer, can offer cheaper prices, without signal delay, they directly control everything the user does in real-time, they have DRMs from Google and Apple -FairPlay and Widevine- in their system thus saving time and have 18 video renditions for each channel they deliver, which allows the user to connect regardless of their bandwidth.

Cardona explains that the technology they use is their own and that they have two patents.
