In the last few months, several TV networks worldwide have acquired more than three thousand hours of BBC Worldwide’s dramatic series catalogue.
Nearly 400 hours of drama were sold only in Latin America. Globo from Brazil acquired War and Peace (2015), which will be aired later on in the year. Ripper street (season 2) will be available on Filmin Latino (SVOD/FVOD), as well as Pramer (seasons 2 and 3). Additionally, Vubiquity acquired seasons 1-10 of Doctor Who.
Sherlock, Doctor Foster and Call the Midwife are some of BBC Worldwide ‘s most sold series globally, with contracts from Subsaharan Africa to Estonia. Nevertheless, classics such as Miss Marple continue to find new audiences.
Dramatic series will once again be the stars in the 2017 BBC Worldwide Showcase, to be held in the ACC in Liverpool. The Showcase is the biggest international TV content market worldwide organized by a single distributor.
More than 700 content buyers attend to explore more than 3 thousand hours of content for four days. In the Showcase, buyers may also attend the premieres of programming according to genre, where they will listen to producers and creators of a broad range of entirely new programs.
