On February 17th, Azteca will bring to Mexican homes the Brazilian telenovela Avenida Brasil. The production has registered high ratings in the countries where it has aired, according to Alberto Santini, general director of Azteca 13, speaking at this years NATPE.Avenida Brasil has been very successful wherever it has been shown. We hope Mexico is no exception and that audiences embrace the telenovela, which although is a Brazilian story, we believe its very strong and has all the elements to succeed; thats why were putting our name behind it, he added.Santini also said the channel expects the novela to be well received by an audience that is ever more demanding, and is accustomed to certain kinds of content. However, this is a top-notch production that were confident will do well.Azteca brought to NATPE two original telenovelas: Siempre Tuya Acapulco, soon to premiere in Mexico and starring ex-La Academia Melissa and Daniel Elbitar; as well as Las Bravo, starring Edith González, Mauricio Islas and Saúl Lizaso. They are very attractive, intense stories filled with love and passion, added Santini.In addition to these novelas, Santini said Azteca will continue to produce this year México Baila, La Academia Kids, game shows, episodic series, and will begin production of miniseries.
