With the presence of Philip Falcone, CEO of HC2 Holdings (new owners of Azteca America) and Alberto Ciurana, general director of Content and Distribution at TV Azteca, Azteca America held its 2018 Upfront event titled The Next Stage in The TimesCenter in New York.

“This year´s topic, The Next Stage, is more than a catchy phrase, a statement of where we are heading. I am personally very excited about our future. At the beginning of last year, we knew that to be truly competitive, we had to gain scale and increase our distribution, and that was when TV Azteca entered into an agreement with the new owners of HC2, a public and diversified company, a partner that is completely committed to TV broadcast and is now entering Hispanic media,” explained Manuel Abud, president and CEO of Azteca America during its presentation. He added that this dynamic collaboration brings sustained growth for the business model, commitment to the network´s growth and the possibility of creating greater brand awareness.

Abud highlighted the launch of AZ Corazón -currently an OTT signal of Azteca- as an open TV channel with classic telenovelas, dramas, comedies and shows 24/7 in 20 markets in the US, representing 40% of Hispanics. He also announced the entry of Penélope Menchaca as talent in the channel for a project they will later reveal.
