Emilio Azcárraga, President and CEO of Grupo Televisa, announced they would start production on Soy tu dueña 2, the sequel of the telenovela that stars Lucero and Fernando Colunga, and that is considered the most successful in the region in years. In the U.S. alone, the final episode, which aired on Univisión, was watched by 9.4 million total viewers. It became the most watched Spanish-language telenovela in U.S. television history. It was also the most watched in Mexico in 2010.”Soy tu dueña has been incredibly successful and now we are going for Soy tu dueña 2,” said Emilio Azcárraga during a dinner party thrown for clients and affiliates at Natpe. Lucero was present at the event and in response to these comments she said: “I did not want to do Soy tu dueña. I thought it wasn’t the right moment, but then Mr. Emilio said it would be a great opportunity, and in reality, I had nothing to lose and everything to gain. It only took about two minutes of convincing and I’m truly thankful for it. It has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. I’m happy to have been part of this project: a team effort that proved successful and of which I’m proud. So yes, we’re going for Soy tu dueña 2 and maybe even 3 or 4.”
