Atresmedia TV made the decision to reduce the duration of the episodes of their new original series to 50 minutes, an unprecedented step in open TV in Spain, where series episodes last 70 minutes.

“It is the moment to take this step that will be crucial for the future of Spanish fiction. To be the first in open television to do this consolidates us as a reference in innovation for the sector and for viewers,” said Carlos Fernández, Content director at Atresmedia TV.

This measure will be effective in all the new series from the Series Atresmedia seal that starts as of the next period.

“With 50-minute episodes, Atresmedia series will gain in quality and viewers will enjoy a more positive experience, that his the line we have been aiming for in the last few years. We like to bet on Spanish series, always taking a small step further. Quality, care for our product and assuming the risk of being pioneers is what has turned the seal Series Atresmedia into a very valued brand, both in and out of Spain,” highlighted Sonia Martínez, Fiction director at Atresmedia TV.

“With this decision, we are establishing the trend in the sector with an unprecedented measure in Spain, that will force the market to adjust their proposals. We will surely soon see the rest of the operators adopting similar decisions so as to be more competitive,” added Fernández.
