Epigmenio Ibarra, CEO of Argos Comunicación, expressed at Mip Cancun that the company is changing the creative workflow. “We do this to reassign tasks and help people focus on what has to be done and not broaden their sphere of action too much.”

This modification in the flow responds a need Argos has to be able to produce the volume and quality they need. “For example the director of photography has an essential role, that is exposure, frame, and mise-en-scène. You must not be concerned over technical aspects such as color, you just have to agree on it with a colorist and establish it beforehand. This whole process relieves tension.”

According to Epigmenio, the big challenge right now is to understand how stories should be made and how characters should be generated. “We need fewer characters, more slots. Fewer events, more emotions. We cannot enter the world with a product that continues to have the flavor of the traditional telenovela, in which characters go from situation to situation and do not push the plot themselves. To be able to achieve that, workflows are changed.”
