Carlos Vasallo, president and CEO of América TeVé Network
Since August 1 the signal of América TeVé Network is also being broadcast on the stations WPXO-LD 34.1 in New York and WPJX 24.1 in Puerto Rico. Both channels are no longer affiliates of MundoMax.”These stations always belonged to us. We have four full power in Puerto Rico and one in New York. When MundoFOX appeared, the América TeVe stations in Miami, Puerto Rico and New York subscribed. Afterwards, MundoFox deteriorated when it became MundoMax. Sales are a mess. On July 31, the NY station contract expired and we decided to pass our signal to 34.1 (they already had the 34.2 signal),” explains Carlos Vasallo, president and CEO of América TeVé Network, who has been leading the network for a bit over six months. In Puerto Rico they took the 24.1 signal, and in frequency two they have Teveo, that also belongs to the company. “This is the start to expand our distribution through a cable signal that is my idea. At present we reach 10 million homes in the US. We have ratings that place us as the third TV channel in Spanish in South Florida. Our newscasts and debate programs are number one. Sales are growing and we have 13 hours of daily original production. My idea is to make the most of this production since we are the owners of the rights,” expressed Vasallo.
