Actor Alejandro Nones: Streaming came to change everything for the better

Alejandro Nones, whose most recent project is the series Pacto de Sangre (10×60’), produced by BTF Media for ViX, expressed that one of the marvelous things about this moment in the industry “is that there are many windows for a story to reach people. Streaming changed the speed with which your project reaches somewhere else in the world, it empowers viewers a great deal and also makes it harder to connect with the audience” he explained.
Nones adds that there lies the importance of actors’ commitment to promoting the projects, “that is what makes them grow. I believe each project lives, breathes, feels, and has a different way, and you cannot promote every project the same way. You must promote it the way it connects with the audience. It is extremely important to connect with the audience and the essence of my project”.
He explained that with streaming “you can be more specific about audiences you want to reach. It came to change everything for the better”. He mentioned that with streaming you achieve balance, “because that power the audience has goes beyond the numbers that corporations are handling. In the past, there were very few windows to tell stories. I hope all those windows continue to exist. Everything has an audience. I hope this growth is positive”.
When consulted on what the pandemic changed, Nones mentioned that it claimed the power “of what is in your hands, the commitment to your family, friends, work when you are committed and your actions are congruent. The pandemic came to give us a couple of slaps in the face and to highlight what is important”.
He also stressed that the pandemic allowed the audience to take that last step to open up, to be able to see other things from other countries, with other actors that they do not know, “other stories that connect with us and when stories are told from the truth of each person who decides to tell them, they have to connect”.
His upcoming works include the film Colao 2, to be released on Thursday, November 30 in the Dominican Republic, and a film in Barcelona, Spain, titled Astronauta, directed by David Matamoros and Raul Tejon, about a gay couple, to be released in theaters the first quarter of 2024.
He mentioned that he had recently attended Iberseries in Spain as a producer. He recalled that he already produced a film and is in the process of making a second one and developing a series he is co-writing with a friend, actor, and comedian. “I realize that this industry is becoming more and more connected and integrated, not only because of the language but also because we are becoming more and more a reality as a group” he furthered.
Regarding Pacto de Sangre, he said that his character Benjamin, is one of the most complicated ones he has had to face in his career. “It was very hard for me to find Benjamin. I work hard before I start to shoot: table work, trying to understand the character, searching for him, how to get energy in me that connects me rationally with what I understand about or see of the character. I usually reach a crisis point. After suffering, I always end up being driven by confidence in the process, that one is doing the work, the task, and that has to have some kind of result to be able to get to the set” he commented.
