Rest of the World and Genesco Create the Diego Maradona Temple Experience for HBO

Rest of the World, Genesco Sports Enterprises and HBO launched this weekend tin New York The Diego Maradona Temple Experience, a pop-up museum promoting the Diego Maradona documentary, to be aired October 1 on HBO Latino. The Sept. 20-22 pop-up had more than a hundred pieces of Maradona memorabilia and personal artifacts on show for the first time in the U.S., plus an altar with 500 candles in tribute to the athlete considered by many to be the great god of soccer. “Maradona is a hero and a villain, myth and legend, loved and rejected. We worked closely with the Genesco and HBO team to capture the essence of this legend in a physical space. I feel we achieved it” said Sergio Alcocer, Founder of the Rest of the World agency. The items exhibited in the museum included T-shirts used by Maradona on each of the teams with which he played during his career, as well as a pair of the classic Puma shoes the famous number 10 used when he played with Boca Juniors. “We wanted to rev up people’s interest in the documentary’s launch here by bringing to the U.S. a display of the life and times of Diego Maradona. People´s excitement at seeing the T-shirts Diego starred and sweated in was amazing” Alcocer said. The Diego Maradona documentary was directed by Asif Kapadia, the Oscar-winning British director of documentaries about Ayrton Senna and Amy Winehouse. Its premiere during the Cannes Film Festival last May captivated the audience.
