Univision Communications Inc. (UCI) hired ex Google, Mark López, as executive VP and general manager of Univisión Digital, position he will take as of May 1st. López will have his headquarters in Miami and will report to Isaac Lee, president of News and Digital for UCI and executive director of Fusion.In this new position, López will direct all the commercial aspects of Univisión Digital in all the platforms, working closely with Univisión´s already well-established sales, product, technology and content teams. He will also be responsible for Univisión to continue being a profitable digital business, and for developing new income sources, aside from multiplatform experiences and opportunities, which include entering the market of native advertising, which is estimated to grow exponentially in 2015.This appointment is part of Univisión´s efforts to expand and strengthen its digital offer to take its brand and contents, in an efficient way and in all the platforms, to a broader audience that dominates current technology.Marks hiring, at a time when our main focus is on innovation and digital expansion, reflects our commitment to carry the Univisión experience wherever our audience is, and to create interest in all the platforms”, said Lee.López arrives at Univisión after being at Google, where he was Head of U.S. Hispanic Audience since 2010. Previously, he was Operations director at Terra Networks USA and before that, publisher at AOL Latino.
