Discovery Communications announced its investment and strategic partnership with Batanga Media, company that in mid-2016 had announced a commercial agreement.This partnership allowed Discovery to offer consumers better access to a whole new variety of their own content, thus attracting young followers, through Batanga Media’s millennial audience base.“Our investment in the biggest digital content company in Latin America boosts Discovery’s commitment to grow even more in the region and increase our presence in new platforms, as well as offer a unique service for superfans across all screens, attracting new audiences with the best content in its class. Additionally, it allows us to offer our advertisers unique branded content services in a digital and social environment” commented Enrique Martínez, President and General Director at Discovery Networks Latin America/U.S. Hispanic and Canada.Martínez and Michael Bremer, CFO and COO at Discovery Networks Latin America/U.S. Hispanic, will be part of Batanga Media’s Board of Directors, which, aside from Discovery, has other majority investors. For his part, Rafael Urbina, CEO at Batanga Media, explained that it is a very favorable scenario for them, since it allows the company the opportunity to remain independent while it obtains Discovery’s support. “Together we will have greater influence; we are better partners for our advertisers, and, what is most important, we will be able to have even greater impact and continue at the forefront of the market.”
