Cani: Lo que necesitamos es entrenar y apoyar a esta nueva generación
Luciana Cani, Senior VP and Executive Creative Director at LAPIZ, says that reaching her current position in the industry was a natural process. She spent ten years working in Sao Paulo, a big and competitive market, before going to a smaller market in Portugal. “I made the decision to leave Sao Paulo based on my wish to expand my mind through a new experience. Fortunately, I had the opportunity to showcase my potential in Portugal. I spent 9 years in Leo Burnett Lisbon, and grew from Senior Art Director to the ECD position. This helped me to find different opportunities inside the group and led me to the LAPIZ position.” Women leaders inspire her more than winners. She expressed that she was lucky to meet amazing creative leaders from different LB around the world. “One of them was Susan Credle, at the time CCO in LB Chicago. Susan always made herself available for advice via email or phone. That’s what I like the most in big networks: the possibility to meet and learn from others leaders. Judy John is another leader I really admire.” Cannes, she says, is the best way to gain a lot of exposure. “When women win it is a great inspiration to other women to dream big. Also, it is a great demonstration that women can lead and create the most powerful ideas of the year.” On the role of the Hispanic market, she points out that brands that aim at that market have the responsibility to represent the change in the community and avoid stereotypes and misconceptions. “I believe this is our greatest contribution.”“What we need is to coach and support this new generation in order to develop them to achieve the higher positions” adds Cani on the initiatives the industry must implement in order to gain gender equality.
