Carta de Frida Kahlo por Nicole Martínez
Woman Card is an initiative that emerged after Donald Trumps sexists remarks accusing Hillary Clinton of using the woman card to win votes. A group of illustrators that back-up gender equality joined to create a card game featuring women that prove otherwise. “The game has 54 cards, 52 queens and 2 jokers, featuring Donald Trump” explained to PRODU Maddy Kramer, Founder of the initiative. “The card deck features important women who have triggered change around the world despite their gender. We aim to turnaround something negative into positive and finger out gender stereotypes.” “At the beginning we were only three people and each invited somebody. The word spread out and we have people worldwide, from Spain to Puerto Rico. Today we are 26 illustrators, we have 13 cards online and 41 unfinished. We continue to seek those willing to come aboard” Kramer said. The illustrators are: Ilia Isales, Mauricio Dávila, Fernando Suárez, John Dávila Morris, Marta Vega, Alfonso Ruiz, Gabrielle Hoggett, Ana Calvo, Adriel López, Mireia Córcoles, Percy Bustos, Chris Thomas, Nicole Martínez, Maite Reyes, Beatriz Espinosa, José Gabriel Miranda, Celeste Dalairac and Natalie Fielding. Some of the queens are figures like Emma Watson, Madonna, Hellen Keller, Ronda Rousey, Frida Kahlo, Yayoi Kusama, J.K. Rowling, among others. Each illustration comes with a small biography.
