Wieden & Kennedy Portland made a new campaign for Old Spice, keeping the stars Isaiah Mustafa and Terry Crews, who have become iconic spokepersons for the brand. This time, they are innovating by showing both actors in the same spot. Each one advocates for a different product from the brand and they get into a never-ending battle full of humor and surreal scenes. The campaign is aimed at the U.S., where Mustafa and Crews are known for their former careers as football players, and now – thanks to acting and comedy- they’ve earned a place in the audience. The first piece in this series, titled And So It Begins, came out at the end of August. This week they launched Checkmate, in which Crews defends Old Spice Timber fragrance products. At the end, we see Mustafa playing chess with a lion promoting the Bearglove scent line. At the end of the video, they invite users to make a Smellmitment and choose between the brands advocated by each spokesman. The surreal series will have further installments over the next few weeks.
