The organizers of Wimbledon are looking for a creative agency to help them turn the tennis tournament into a global brand. The All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club sent a brief to agencies in which they reveal that they have a multi-million-dollar budget to leverage Wimbledon’s prestige and export the brand around the world. For the bidding process there will be no intermediaries. Bartle Bogle Hegarty launched its pitch with its sports marketing agency, BBH Sport. IMG and Droga5 are taking a similar approach. Grey is developing a concept in a joint effort with WPP, while Interpublic is also bidding with the sports agency Octagon.The spokesperson for the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club has expressed they would naturally rather not comment on the process for now.Wimbledon is the oldest tennis tournament in the world. Winners of the event take away money prizes of nearly £1.9 million (US$3 million).
