Verena Sisa Thompson, CSO de Conill
The world of travel and tourism are going through unprecedented changes, according to Verena Sisa Thompson CSO at Conill. This changes include sharing economy and the rise of the millennial traveler. Conill did an analysis of trends and insights of the U.S. and Latin American tourism industries, and developed a report with keys for advertisers. The first is to know that today’s travelers are road warriors, open, spontaneous, and fearless. “For these travelers, technology plays an essential role in solving problems and amplifying experiences. So how can you get them in your camp? By embracing flexibility and celebrating consumer choice” Thompson said. Another key is that vacations are now opportunities for personal enrichment. “Travelers want fresh educational experiences that prepare them for life in an increasingly interconnected society” she said. “Travelling is not about sightseeing a city, but living it as a local. Advertisers should focus on forging interaction experiences between travelers and locals.” Thompson assured that sharing economy is here to stay and brands should learn about platforms like Airbnb that have been able to capitalize themselves on this new era of co-ownership and exchange. “Experience is king. What kind of experience does your brand offer? Can you feel it, tell a story about it, or capture it in a picture?” she concluded.
