Directed by Alejandro Bellame and based on the best-seller Blue Label (Etiqueta Azul) by Eduardo Sanchez Rugeles, Direccion Opuesta, after being picked for the Chicago Latino Film Festival 2021 and taking third place in the Audience Choice Awards, has been chosen to take part in the International Features Section of the New York Latino Film Festival presented by Warner Media. The production tells the story of Eugenia Bianchi, a 30-year-old Venezuelan woman who has lived in Europe for more than 10 years. One day Eugenia receives a call that reminds her that this is the anniversary of a date and a promise of love that she has no wish to live up to. The date, however, brings back the memory of a stage in her life in Venezuela, when at age 17 she firmly decided to leave her country. In order to do so, she set out with her friend Luis Tevez on a road trip to a village at the foot of the Andes, in search of an Italian uncle whom she doesn’t even know, for the purpose of obtaining a European passport. Many years later the adult Eugenia recalls the strange paths that took her into exile and to come into contact with Luis once more, the subject of her fleeting and tragic adolescent love affair. This day must decide whether she keeps her promise or not. Direccion Opuesta, starring Claudia Rojas (Eugenia Bianchi), Christian Gonzalez (Luis Tevez) and Erick Palacios (Vadier). The youthful cast is also completed by Edmary Fuentes in the role of Titina, one of Luis’s best friends; Laura Portela (Natalia), David Ortíz (Floyd), Raoul Gutierrez (Jorge), Amneris Treco (Nairobi), Raxel Andara (Gonzalo), Simon Gonzalez (Mel), Rafael Fermin (Pelo Lindo), Juan Vaca (Jose Miguel), Fabiola Reyes (Claire), Javier Ruiz (Carlos) and the brothers Gerardo and Edgardo Sorondo (Maikel and Dustin). Also in the cast of characters are actors Diana Volpe, Alberto Alifa, William Goite and Martha Estrada, with special appearances by Patty Oliveros, Juliana Cuervos, Elvis Chaveinte, Calique Perez, Veronica Arellano, Beatriz Vasquez and El Pollo Sifontes. The movie was also on the edition 17 of the Venezuelan Festival del Cine where it won all eight awards including, among others, the Audience Prize, Best Feature Film of Fiction, the Press Award, Best Screenplay and Best Actors.
