Univisión Radio contribuye a salvar vidas de niños con cáncer
In a project to collect funds to continue with the work of discovering new cures and saving the lives of kids with cancer, Univision Radio helped gather US$3.8 million for St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital during the annual radio event Promesa y Esperanza (Promise and Hope) which aired last Feb. 10-11.Hispanic listeners in Puerto Rico and 17 cities across the nation, including Los Angeles, Dallas, Miami, Chicago and New York, committed to giving their support to St. Jude, becoming Angels of Hope by donating US$20 a month. Our audiences generosity and kindness speaks to our shared values which ultimately benefits thousands of St. Jude patient families highlighted during this event and gives hope to countless children worldwide said Randy Falco, president and CEO of Univision Communications.Since the hospital opened its doors more than 50 years ago, the treatments developed at St. Jude have helped raise the survival rate of children with cancer from 20 percent to over 80 percent.For 15 years, Univision Radio has helped connect the Hispanic community to the mission of St. Jude, and each year we have seen how their listeners unite to help give hope to children and families battling some of the most aggressive childhood cancers said Richard Shadyac Jr., CEO of ALSAC/St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
