DIGITALTRENDS
The Richards Group has made public its report on Ten Digital Trends for 2019. According to the firm that drew up the report, when looking toward next year and beyond, “it is clear that digital is in a period of transition”, while noting that Google Search is now in its third decade, while Facebook brand pages, the news feed, the App Store, streaming on Netflix, Amazon Prime and AWS have all been around for more than ten years. The report outlines the 10 top trends for 2019: “Less Talk and More Action…Combined Intelligence, Your New Superpower…Streamers Are the New Influencers…5G: the Underlying Layer of Our New Connected World…A Movement Toward Time Well-Spent…Getting Creative with Machine Learning and AI…The Rough Road Ahead for Social Conversation…Beyond the Feed: the Year of the Story…Art & Science: the Rise of Dynamic Video,” and finally, “The Human Imperative.” The thinking in this year’s report has been fueled by a wide range of digital experts, from digital strategists, technologists and brand planners to media planners, decision scientists and brand managers. According to The Richards Group, the next digital era “will be most shaped by the adoption of and advancements in artificial intelligence (machine learning) and all its related repercussions. Capabilities will shift, processes will be reoriented, training and skill sets that are valued will evolve. Biases and ethics will still need to be better understood. As we prepare for this landscape in 2019 and beyond, it warrants a deeper exploration of the different facets of how this will affect the marketing world.”
