The National Football League (NFL) will celebrate with its teams the Month of Hispanic Heritage with a series of special events. This year’s theme is “Feel the Orgullo” (orgullo is pride in Spanish) which players, fans and coaches feel not only in their culture but in their team and league. During this month, fans will have access on the NFL portal to the personal story of Hispanic players, past and present, who have left a lasting legacy in the league. They will also have a photo contest on their Twitter account @NFLEspanol, in which fans are motivated to have conversations and share their pride through the hashtag #FeelTheOrgullo, and also on Instagram. Photos can be posted until September 26th. Additonally, during the celebrations, the NFL and the Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) will jointly present the Sixth Annual NFL Hispanic Heritage Leadership Awards to the contribution of Hispanic leaders in each NFL market. Each recipient will select a non-profit organization of their choice that serves the local Hispanic community to receive a US$2,000 donation. The NFL teams will also make local efforts, including thematic elements in the stadiums and will approach Latin communities.
