During its 30th Annual Conference, titled: 30 Years of Championing Hispanic Higher Eductition Success, The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) will recognize 10 honorees who have contributed to improve opportunities for college students. Two of them will be inducted into HACU’s Hall of Champions: Max Castillo, Ed.D., President Emeritus, University of Houston-Downtown and a Founding Board Member of HACU; and Rubén Hinojosa, United States House of Representatives, who has elevated Hispanic-Serving Institutions to a position of prominence in higher education. “HACU is honored to highlight those individuals, institutions and organizations that have played a crucial role in Hispanic higher education” said Antonio Flores President and CEO at HACU. Other awardees are: Tomás Morales, Ph.D., President at California State University, San Bernardino, with the President’s Award of Excellence; Ricardo Romo, Ph.D., President at The University of Texas at San Antonio, with the Special Award for Exemplary Leadership; and the Parliamentary Joseph Crowley for Exemplary Policy/Advocacy Leadership and support of HACU’s policy issues.HACU represents more than 450 schools and universities committed to Hispanic higher education success in the U.S,, Puerto Rico, Latin America and Spain.
