Telemundo announced the launch of its new pro-social campaign nationwide, Aprender es triunfar (Learning is success), which aims to encourage students to continue their education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEAM). With the support of its sister company Comcast and in association with Hispanic organizations, including the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), ¡Adelante! Leadership Fund and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), the campaign seeks to promote and provide tools and useful resources to empower Hispanic families of U.S.Throughout the year, the campaign will include public service announcements on air, made by Jose Diaz-Balart, Telemundo news anchor and reporter Vanessa Hauc, as official defenders of education, along with stories of education of a team of local reporters.In addition, this year’s efforts include the distribution of thousands of backpacks to students in all key markets. Telemundo also will celebrate the Education Week with a series of special segments on their network and local news, and their public affairs program, Enfoque, also with Diaz-Balart. “The most important issues in the Hispanic community are education, employment and the economy,” Raquel Egusquiza, VP of Community Affairs, Hispanic Enterprises and Content of NBCUniversal, said. “With STEAM, we are committed to educate Hispanics about the great financial opportunities of studying in these areas.
